Need electrician recommendations

We're going to do some major renovations later this year and I'd like to book a good electrician now. Please post recommendations here. I'm not nit-picky, but I do expect perfection if I have to pay the bill.

What's your location? Most of them have an area (alue) that they work in... I have used a couple of them according to their available times and most of them have done quite well.

Some advice though (feel free to press Shift+Delete) : Do ask for a quote (in writing and ask them to separate the work costs from the material), state very clearly what you want done and how. Another thing: I usually purchase the items I want installed and then ask them to install it. If needed, I would ask them to supply the exact specifications on paper and then shop around, I have usually found Bauhaus to have quite good deals in housing renovation material.

The electrician we use fetches the materials needed for the job and his supplier sends us the bill. Seems a strange way of working but he always does it this way and we have always been happy with the deal. Too far away to be of any use to Karen though.

if you have already called some one and if you know how much they charge per hour that would be good to know in advance.
