i guess you, the Helsinki locals, know some places where are nice panoramas (industrial or city..) to shoot - i will be in Helsinki this week, and taking my little crappy Canon with me, so i want to take some interesting memories from your city. Any suggestions, ideas? Or i just have to walk and shoot everything i see?
if i do some big art in Helsinki, i'll post the flickr link here too

Pssst, Finland, contact me if you need a new website, want to update old website, or need to promote current site!
Suggest me nice photo spots in Helsinki

Go to Ruoholahti and Sörnäinen for some industrial porn, harbor and the dockyard. You can get a view of DDR from Merihaka on the way... Kallio has a few interesting views... hrmpfh... dunno, what kind of stuff are you looking for?
Panorama shots; theres a cafe/restaurant on the upper floor of the waterworks in Ilmala. Helsinki centere the Torni Hotel has an upstairs bar that gives a good view over the city...
Cheers, Hank W.

Also, the tower at the Olympic Stadium might offer some good views. Costs a € or two to take the elevator up there.
I suppose it's open all year round...
Mind you Merihaka might be interesting - a concrete nightmare from the early 70's... looks like this
...and I guess that they're still taking down the old power plant in the 'hood of Merihaka... if you're into industrial photos that could be worth checking out... (if there's anything left that is)
But yeah it depends what you wish to capture on film... there's a spot some 12 km away from the centre that offers a Vantaa panorama

I dunno if the sightseeing boats are running this time of the year, but at least Suomenlinna ferry is... there's a way to take nice shots of Helsinki as seen from the sea...
Another way to spot shoot locations is drive around with the trams 3T and 7.

It really does depend on what you want. One place with a bit of everything is Seurasaari island. You can do nature, history, architecture, or industrial (shooting across the water to the Helsinki industrial areas.
But I recommend most walking the beach heads at the tip of Lauttasaari. Especially around 5:00 pm, when the cruise ships come in to dock.
