A total of 14 of those persons who drowned in January through February this year were middle-aged men who had gone fishing on the ice of familiar lakes, reported Janne Ollikainen from SUH.
”They should have known better as they had experience, but apparently the urge to go ice-fishing is too strong”, noted Ollikainen
People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

You could do virtual ice fishing. Much safer

And if you just want to fish, try it with the Moomins
saving chimpanzees is a big hairy deal

ok don,t know about you southerners but hear in lapland since january only had about 4 days over +0 and quite the norm has been minus 12 to minus 25....the ice is at least 1meter thick and all ice roads are still open...ps we also have around 1 meter of snow remember that white stuff...so i think it is cool enough...
everything happens for a reason....

Take your fishing knife, stick it all the way into your left ear, twirl it around for 3 minutes. OK now the frontal lobotomy is done, dress up really warm, turn your brain to the "OFF" position and spend 6 hours sitting around a small hole at minus 10C catching tiny fish.

Or do it the UK way. Go to lake. Dig small holes in ice. Now drop baited lines tied to poles into holes. Lay pole over the hole and do this 5 times. Go to pub, have a good time and collect lines on the way home. Lot warmer, more fun and results do not matter so much :beer_yum:
I do not need to know you will attend my Funeral. I would rather you call just to say Hi !!

Ice fishing rods make the best presents for people (outside Finland) I've sent about five across the globe with the warning: This is NOT a toy.
People love them, and they never fail to raise a laugh.
Don't work me, I just ask here
