Ordering wine over internet
Hi,
Does anyone know what Tulli will charge, if anything, for wines ordered over the internet from EU countries? Thanks

Yeah, so the tax is 2,33/litre, but you need to have the seller have a registered representative in Finland... or then you have to organize the freight and place a bond and whatnot... really easy and pleasant and advisable thing to do.

So, that sounds a bit nasty. Actually a friend is coming from Germany to visit and he ordered some wine to my place. He spoke with the company and they said they had experience in shipping to Finland, maybe that means they have a local representative? Anyway, you mentioned 2,33€ per liter. If they have a local rep. then is this the only thing to pay? Thanks for the help!

I'm not totally sure how the VAT works there, if you have to pay that on top as well and of what sum. Did the company say that they have experience in deliviering to Finland into the customs impound (where a lot of alcohol rots) or that the customer actually got it
Now if your German friend had packed his car full of the wine and brought it over he could have brought 110 liters. Ordering is witchcraft that gets you in the hands of the holy inquisition if you don't play right

Getting nervous now. My friend said that the company seemed to know all the info about what to do and what to pay - he is paying, not me, so I dont have all the details. Of course its possible that they just said they know what they are doing. I wish he was coming by car, then it would be no problem. Hard to carry 10 bottles of wine in your suitcase though.

OK, so tell us then what happens. And how much vaseline gets used. And if you actually then get to drink your expensive wine what the company was, if someone wishes to indulge. Just after you get the wine don't take your friend to ALKO in case they sell the same cheaper what you got and he pops a wein... you can only tell him Dass ist Finnland and give a shrug.

Well, the biggest problem with Alko is the limited choice. Same wines in every Alko. Sure there are some good ones, but sometimes you want a specific bottle that you can't get here. I'll keep you guys informed as to what happens.

I once asked at Alko about ordering wines and they said there is a charge of €50 on top for it.

Re: Ordering wine over internet
about this alko "tax" system in FI. it is totally bogus (IMHO)
ALKO prices should be based on some (within reason) quota & SSID
I.e. you can have up to 6 beers a week for €1 per 0.5L bottle
... and/or one wine bottle a week and/or one hard liquor bottle per month (again at some normal (not obscene!) price)
then in any bars or in alko (above your quota) €10 or €30 or €100 a bottle (just triple or 10x your current obscene price)
this way the tax man will be happy, decent alko/tax payer again happy and alcoholics will $AV€ the planet... LOL

Don't worry, that stuff has all been sent to the UK and Finland already, you will barely find any such thing used by the locals in Germanysinikettu wrote:Hank W. wrote: Now if your German friend had packed his car full of the wine and brought it over he could have brought 110 liters.
