Hello,
My first baby, born completely healthy, got GBS (bacteria, streptococus) meningitis and sepsis at 7 days old. He has been fighting hard for his life, and survived in spite od doctors' prognosis and decision not to be treated (since he was supposed to be dying anyway...) Now Luukas is almost 2 yo and happy and physically healthy, but with significant neurological problems. Well, I am not going to elaborate on this.
I am now 3 months pregnant again and thanks to other parents with similar experience and the special discussion board on GBS I know more what to expect and ask from my midwife and doctors. The midwife at neuvola is willing to help and sends me for more tests, as well as she gave me a referral to Kätilöopisto (the place of my both deliveries) to talk to a doctor 3 times before my delivery. Now, Kätilöopisto sends me a letter inviting me to see a midwife (not a doctor) ONCE, and at the end of my pregnancy, while I do need to ask questions and be tested by a specialist doctor. We've asked for more care and will see what comes out of that...
A gynecologist at the private Diacor turns out not to know about streptococus and pregnancy as much as "simple" mothers who have studied the topic after their trauma with previous pregnancies. I would like to feel that I am in good hands, but so far there is no doctor who could know enough and would like to care for me. Please, do you know a good gynecologist whom I could trust?
A doctor you can trust while pregnant?

Actually I was wondering about that. They test you routinely in France a few weeks before your due date, not that it helps that much as you can get the bacteria afterwards and transmit it to the baby during birth but at least they do something. I gather it's not done here then.
I don't know good OB/GYN here but I know I chose Naistenklinikka just for the proximity of the top notch NICU in Lastenklinikka where I fully trust the staff. Was your baby tranfered there or did he stay at Katilöoppisto?
