If you have no basic knowledge of Finnish, you should apply for a study in English.
(in this late state almost all are probably full)
Applying for a study in Finnish, without the knowledge of the language is useless.
Even if you get in, you cannot pass the tests and you study will be terminated due to lack of study points.

In the Metropolia Bachelor's Nursing programme, the tuition language is English:

http://www.metropolia.fi/en/studies/hea ... n_english/

You do not need Finnish skills to apply for that programme. *** <---- edit: b*llocks... see below***

Applications: http://www.admissions.fi (the admission period has been long over however for the next intake)

Naturally they do also offer the Finnish-language programme in nursing; regarding that programme, or any other programme taught in Finnish - you simply can't be admitted unless you know Finnish pretty well.

Cor, you're right  Thanks for correcting me. Now, I wonder why it doesn't say so on the programme description at

http://www.metropolia.fi/en/studies/hea ... n_english/

thst's where I checked originally - however the level 2 Finnish language requirement IS mentioned in the Applicants Guide pdf

http://lomakkeet.metropolia.fi/hakutoim ... i.indd.pdf and on the programme description on the http://www.admissions.fi site.

Why the language requirement - not sure, but I'd guess that they're targeting this particular programme for immigrants who've been in Finland for a while already. And on the other hand, it also makes sense if the students wish to stay & work in Finland after their graduation.

AFAIK not all English-language nursing programmes in Finland have this Finnish requirement - see the www.admissions.fi site

I studied Nursing in Stadia (now Metropolia). The finnish test is not hard, it's level 2 I was told. Some students in my group or in other group had no Finnish whatsoever and still manage to get in.

But I've heard they had about 150 applicants for the tests when there is about 20 places so I guess they'll take the ones with Finnish knowledge first. It makes it easier to find clinical trainings as there are not so many wards providing tuition in English (I know that from experience!).

Turku AMK has the nursing programme in English and they have no requirement for Finnish. I did my first year there before moving to Helsinki and Stadia.
