2000 € + 300 dollar/month is still less than 6000 €.

Not very. You have to prove the 6000 euros every time you reapply for the residence permit also.
I am an internet marketeer (virtual job)
Oh, one of those famous Nigerian spammers, so you guys actually do make money?
The problem now is, on how to prove to the embassy staff in nigeria
That your income is secure? "A foreigner's income is considered to be secure if his stay in the country is funded by remunerated employment, private enterprise, pensions, own capital or other sources of available income. The level of income is calculated from the applicant's income after tax, i.e. net income." So do you know how much tax you'll pay off your internet marketing?

What I would suggest is that you try and have the money from somewhere, you'll then repay your debt back (maybe with your internet marketing incomes) but as for getting a job in Finland - depends where you are going to study and stay, and remember you're here for studying and not working so for the residence permit renewal you must show both study advancement and the 6000 euros! And I don't know about the living expenses in Nigeria, but even living on that 500 euros a month is a stretch to some. And then after studying - depends on what you are planning to study - if you'll be finding a job here or what your future brings...

I receive my money through check, clear it and smile to the banks.
You are going to just love the ridiculously high fees you will be paying to cash your cheques in Finland :)

hey I was just wondering aloud...
1. If someone else deposited the 6000 euros into the "student's" account only to withdraw the amount after finishing the residence visa application would the embassy have a clue of what was going on.
2. I've heard of people forging bank statements and therefore I was wondering, how do the finnish embassies in diffrent country's get to know if a bank statement is genuine or not. Do they call the bank to get information on the account or do they just assume that their R no liars and they cant be cheated  ..
Sorry 4 saying this ..but I've been to Nigeria N I know Nigerians R "smart" .. really really "smart"...wen it comes to doing (il)legal business nobody can beat them... ...no pun intended
Thanks

I think the money has to be on a Finnish bank account. Besides, how could a person survive without money? What would s/he eat? Where would s/he live?

No money need not be in Finnish Bank. Because of security reasons persons who are outside Finland can not open bank account in Finland.
To verify whether the bank statement is forged they will call the bank and also fax them if needed.
Above all student need to submit bank draft in their name before they can collect residence permit. People in the immigration in finland (when you land in finland at the airport) will want to see that draft as well.
I'd better suggest Immigration that they make a provision to open bank account as is possible in Denmark and also make a provision that they can withdraw no more than say around Eur 800 a month from the account in Finland. I hear such provision is available in Germany.
