A Stout Question
For drinkers of Guinness, Murphy's and other stouts...
has anyone tried any of the 10 or so porters that Alko has to offer?
Opinions? Recommendations?

Re: A Stout Question
I tried Fuller's and Saaremaa. Both drinkable, but I was not impressed.
Re: A Stout Question
Aldaris Porteris is my husband's favourite, good and cheap(!).

It was sold out some time ago, but I have not checked the status during past two of weeks or so, though.

A thousand apologies, I totally forgot!
Yup, I did drink it in the end and it was a clear winner in my small survey.
But I have to admit that Guiness and Murphy's remain my favourites.

Re: A Stout Question
I agree. A few pints is always in order before a jam. I once tried a porter from Tampere at Kaisla in Helsinki, and to me anyway it tasted like what Guiness used to. Excellent.

I hadn't realised Guinness had changed its recipe?Mattlill2000 wrote:and to me anyway it tasted like what Guiness used to.

Re: A Stout Question
I don't think so. But I remember Guinness having a more "burnt" taste years ago, while today the taste will still great is somewhat more "tame". It was when I tasted the porter from Tampere, my first thought was that this was the way Guinness tasted years ago. You know what........I'm going to pop down to the local bar and see what Guinness tastes like today!I hadn't realised Guinness had changed its recipe?
