Need Info reg Resident Permit

Hi,

I came to Finland in Bussiness Visa, Now i want to persuit Masters; Do any one know how can i apply for Student resident permit from Finland itself? Do i have to approach Police station?

My first RP in Finland was as a market researcher for a foreign company. While working in Finland I was accepted to a Masters program here and was able to switch the grounds of my RP by just going to my local police station and applying for an extension under different grounds.

problem here being a visa in not an RP, one needs to be legally resident already like you were for the switching to be possible.

and the visa being valid 3 months, now if the OP is aiming for the September intake he would have applied already, an for the January intake there is not really such thing as a visa extension to twiddle thumbs after the entrance tests, basically as the statistics show theres 600 people applying for 60 spots so what are the 540 going to do?
