Driving school in English

Post by _jones » Wed Jul 23, 2008 3:44 pm

Hi all,
I'd like to take a driving license of type A (motorcycles). Does anybody know about a driving school that offers classes in English? If that's asking too much, does anyone of you have any experience about going to driving school with limited Finnish?

Thanks!

You can try AutoKoulu Elo in Leppavaara, close to the railway station

You can do it only with English, no worries... but it is expensive :)
Have fun

Too much power to handle and natural selection are some phrases coming to mind.

for a motorbike fortunately not.

question to the op though - do you have an existing licence already - as in are you just upgrading your original licence or getting a new one totally. motorbikes have a learners permit thing so you need to have some minimum amount of driving instruction... 8 classes was it and pass a theory test and a handling test so its a bit cheaper than a B licence to get...

ok, so then one might presume you just need to get the eight driving classes and handling test done... you might also check with the police if theres restrictions for the bike as they might look a bit funny if you have a 1300 kawasaki...

Thanks. I was gonna go for a Kawasaki ER-6f. Not final tho, I'll take my time to get the license first, then go around and try a few :)
Btw, where can I find exact information about how much the import taxes are?
I'm from Italy (been living in Finland for 3 years), and I noticed that there prices are dramatically lower.

to get the training permit you need to have a bike to train with, so you might want to get some scooter for the while.
the import bit is explained at http://www.tulli.fi, its based on the cc of the engine.

Hi Pursuivant and thanks again for your help. Could you give me the direct link? I tried tulli.fi in English and couldn't find the information I needed. The Finnish version appears to be kind of different, to me, and this time I couldn't find because of my limited Finnish skills. Thanks in advance!

I didn't want to start a new thread therefore I am posting here.

I am looking for a driving school within Helsinki that would teach in English, as my Finnish livel is very basic one.

I've found one such school ( http://www.teekkarienautokoulu.fi/ ), but I am still awaiting them to respond to my email as for the availability of courses and the price.

If anyone know more such schools in Helsinki, please share them as I would like to find the soonest and cheapest English course.
