VERY VERY TRICKY questions about studying in finland.
VERY VERY TRICKY questions about studying in finland.
I HAVE THREE QUESTIONS...
1.) I would really love to learn finnish because i want to be able to communicate with people, Is it possible for me to learn finnish in finland before i start my degree course taught in english in September 2009? so, does it mean i have to apply for both?
- I plan on applying for the degree course taught in English in december 08/January 09
- Apply for the language course in january 2009,
- get the visa, finish the language course
- *Do an entrance examination , if required and if exam is in english, then
- come back to my country and apply for my resident permit for my degree.
IS THIS POSSIBLY, AM I ALLOWED TO DO THIS???
2.) If i was offered a 3yrs degree course taught in english at university/ polytechnic, does my bank account need to show that i have the money for my living expenses for 3years.
i mean 6000euros x 3years
or
just 6000euros.
3.)* I have absolutely no knowledge of finnish/swedish and i want to apply for a degree taught in english, would the entrance examination be in finnish/swedish or English?

2) you have to show you have enough money for 1 year (6000e). You'll have to show this again when you renew your residence permit after the first year.

3 if the study is in English, the test also will be in English.

it is a good thing you have ambition you will actually get the place. but as they know the probabilities they will give you a permit only after you get the place.

Depending on where you apply you might have a part in Finnish as well. It is the case in Metropolia for example.rinso wrote:3 if the study is in English, the test also will be in English.

Are you currently studying at Metropolia?Amandine.K wrote:Depending on where you apply you might have a part in Finnish as well. It is the case in Metropolia for example.rinso wrote:3 if the study is in English, the test also will be in English.

May I correct you. As far as I know, they only require a minimum Finnish knowledge for the programme called EM European Management.
For other degrees such as EBA European Business Administration ( I'm a prospective student of this

So, the test is still in English. But part of the test is to access your (basic) Finnish skills.Amandine.K wrote: they do ask for basic Finnish, you have a test in the entrance exam.

Yes, like I said in my first post. The exam (for Nursing/Social services) is in English, with an essay to write about a book you would have been asked to study beforehand (about Ethics). Then there's a part in Finnish, I guess little exercises or write a bit about yourself. I haven't taken the exam as I transfered from another polytechnic but that's how it's been going for the last 4 years at least.rinso wrote:So, the test is still in English.
