Just wondering for those who are driving a car without a air temperature gauge built into the car (to figure out when it's getting below zero outside) if you've found one that really does the trick well which you've fitted in your car (or attached to your car).
There's lots of gadget things out there, but ideally what I need is one with a light, a freezing alert and that is small and looks great on a twingo dash (the last one being the most important

)
taa as always!
What's the best car air-temp meter?

Just look at the windows. If there is ice on them, its freezing outside.
Don't work me, I just ask here

You have to find the coldest place in the car (passenger seat when your MIL is in the car)

which is where the whole thing falls apart...I need to find a run that gets beneath the car, maybe via the electric cable route that comes in through the fire wall to run the mains car heater. If I don't get an accurate reading, then it's pointless..if there's any point in it all.

I'm not sure there is any point. You live in Finland so you know (when) it is likely to freeze. You don't really need a gadget to tell you. If you do get one, I advise against getting one with an audible alarm that you can't turn off. At the start of a cold spell, when the temperature is hovering around the alarm threshold, the built-in gadgets in our cars go off so often it is annoying.

Get your point Cow Heada, I always wondered where they put the sensor, I think it should be somewhere at the back because it gives false reading in front to my idea (wind and engine) I have driven many cars and sometimes they were not accurate (mine is fortunately). Maybe you should ask those guys there in Masalla near Kehä3 or AD shop. Good luck. Maybe somewhere in the wheel chasis?

The built in temperature gauge sensor is usually located in the right mirror. It is visible from outside, it's like a small pin facing down.
I would be too lazy to hide the wires for an aftermarket one. And, with these cheap cars (sorry, I forgot this is Finland), it's difficult to asamble back the pieces you have taken out.
And that freezing alert... it just tells you that temperature is bellow 5 degrees. I would say rather stupid function. None of them is measuring the wind.

Poor guy... this is Finland and he couldn't afford the hood.
Me has almost the cheapest car on market (about 2 years old, however). Again sorry for using 'cheap' in the same post with 'cars' and 'Finland'. But I have heard that the tax is temporary...
