Hello,

I am an American who has the possibility of coming to Finland in April for a month. I am very excited for the opportunity. I will have an interview that will determine the final selection. Why am I writing this and what's the point right???

Well, part of the interview process will be expressing the knowledge that you have on Finland culture,people, language, etc.
I've been looking of "facts" online, but I was hoping that I could get more information from people who actually live in Finland.

Any information, advice, suggestions, and/or feedback will be appreciated.

Well finland is quite diverse country when you talk about habits and culture, there is bonding habits tho. Language is also quite diverse with all dialects so maybe you want to tell what you learned and we can fix wrong assumptions. There is of course "standard finnish" but lets see what you have

What will you be doing there? I haven't been there for almost 30 years, so I am not much help. Are you an American? What region will you be in? Lapland? Helsinki? You don't have to say exactly where, just an idea would be helpful. My first night there I kept waiting for the sun to set and ended up staying awake all night. It was Midsummer and difficult to adapt to at first. So if you like to sleep in the dark, you may want to bring some some of those sleeping masks for your eyes. Most Finns are pretty earthy, friendly people.

Would it be a good idea, in the essay/interview to touch upon a few interesting topics that you know a bit about (rather than 'knowing everything' already, and go on to express that you'd like to learn more on...preferably during a month in Finland?
