I'm a 20 year old german student of psychology (currently in the third semester in bachelor of science) and I'm glad that I found this nice forum here a few days ago. I've already read many posts about studying/workin in Finnland, but I haven't found one about internships in general (-sorry if I overlooked any relevant post, please correct me if I'm wrong-).
My special situation is: I have got the finnish citizenship because my father is finnish, and I also have relatives there, but I speak only little finnish, however I've started to learn it properly four month ago. Lately, it occured to me that I should investigate my finnish "roots" and so I came up with the plan to do the internship that is obligatory for my academic studies in Finland. Up to now, I only now Finland from holidays, but I want to get to know this fascinating country (which is, at last, my fatherland!

I hope this is the right category, because I also would take into consideration an internship at a university, as maybe there are not so many companies that offer internships for students of psychology. I've already started to get all available information that my university provides me, but I think this forum might be a good way to find more personal and Finland-specific information. (Because unfortunately there are few people at my university who know at least anything about Finland...) I also set my finnish relatives on the topic, but I try to get as much information from different people as possible.
I wanted to ask you about your experiences with internships in Finland in general and maybe, if there are some psychologists/students of psychology out there, about this sector in specific (also social/educational sector). How are internships organised, are there any country-specific peculiarities? Aswell, I'm of course interested in your ways to find an internship (maybe internet platforms etc.), and information about payment and minimum duration. As I assume, poor language skills might be a problem (I would have to serve the internship next summer), so I would like to hear about your experiences with language skills necessary for internships, too.
As every country has its own rules and codes in the working world, I'd like to get a general idea of internship in Finland and I would like to benefit from your knowledge and experience.
I hope this post is not too unspecific, please feel free to ask for detail. I'm also always interested in getting to know new (finnish or Finland-intersted) people.
Kiitos, thank you, reply numerously!
