physiotherapy
physiotherapy
Hei! I am interested in learning physiotherapy in Helsinki. I checked that it is possible in Metropolia Uni. Does anyone have other suggestions? Is Metropolia any good?
Re: physiotherapy
First of all, I think you need to ask yourself whether can you "do it" in Finnish?
There's a list of the UAS's offering physiotherapy studies here:
http://www.fysioterapia.net/koulutus_ja ... ikoulutus/
...but the crucial thing to find out first, if you do not know Finnish (or Swedish, as the case might be) quite well already, is to check where you can study it in English... according to the Metropolia site, physiotherapy degrees can be taken in Finnish only

Re: physiotherapy
I`ve asked myself and I´ve answered to that question positively. That is why, my friend, I am digging for further information. As I understand the applying time for this autumn is over, so I have a year to prepare myself. But thank you for your concern.

Ok, no problemTERI wrote:I`ve asked myself and I´ve answered to that question positively. That is why, my friend, I am digging for further information. As I understand the applying time for this autumn is over, so I have a year to prepare myself. But thank you for your concern.

If you wish to check some informal chat on studying issues by Finnish students (and I mean quite informal) perhaps you could also check out http://keskustelu.suomi24.fi > Opiskelu > Ammattikorkeakoulut ... and look for any threads on "fysioterapia"
...but keep in mind that forums such as that one are bound to also be frequented by people in need of therapy

Re: physiotherapy
a year to prepare for Finnish or a year to prepare for the entrance exam?
The former choice is very optimistic and the latter a realistic one..

Well, I guess I have high expectations on myself plus I know what I`m capable of. So thank you for this very necessary comment.raamv wrote:a year to prepare for Finnish or a year to prepare for the entrance exam?![]()

No !"#¤%, Sherlock... You were so right about that one. I got no useful info from there....but keep in mind that forums such as that one are bound to also be frequented by people in need of therapy
Re: physiotherapy
Yep... but did you ask about physiotherapy on that forum?TERI wrote:No !"#¤%, Sherlock... You were so right about that one. I got no useful info from there.
At least for now, there doesn't yet seem to exist a specific discussion site devoted to prospective students, Finnish or international... there are some info sites like http://www.opiskelupaikka.fi but in general, discussions tend to happen on sites -like e.g. the Suomi24 one- where you usually need to be lucky to find out info from students that "have been there", info that would actually profit you (not just half-baked, off-hand opinions).
Or then you have to ask yourself... and hope that you get some useful answers

The thing is, as I hinted, people on THIS forum most probably would not have much experience on applying to the Finnish-language study programmes, so that's why I'd recommend the Finnish-language forums (with the slight "nutcase" reservation of course)
If you really wish to get useful info, why not visit the institution and chat with the teachers, and students... and then decide for yourself?

Please, do tell, what "a stroppy bint" means? I would really like to fill in the blanks in my poor vocabulary.

and
dont add too well!!Well, I guess I have high expectations on myself plus I know what I`m capable of. So thank you for this very necessary comment.
Most people who live happily here have very high hopes and very low expectations!! ( Well a couple of Finnish winters without snow will set the expectation level right)...
But whats up with work involving pyschos and physios ...They seem to be on the other side of genius!!

Generally Physios are done using 3rd party providers...and most of the people who work get it through their authorized health provider.
Sammy there are lots of forums for students..but they tend to reside in the intranets of the university/korkeakoulu domains.
and some in the facebook domains..
Suomi24 and other plaza sites are sites when current working life adults use to use when they were students..
but Universities have progressed ( especially in the Capital area )..
