Very silly question.... is there any alcohol free Finnish Beer or Alcohol free beer or wine available in Alko or K-Mart, Prisma etc...
Myself and my wife are over in Finland in 6 weeks for a major family gathering and my wife is pregnant.
I wouldn't imagine there is much of a market for alcohol free drinks

Alcohol free beer and wine can be found in Alko and also all bigger food markets. The wines are not Finnish (if I remember right), they are imported. Beers taste just fine, wines less so. Alko´s alcohol free wines are better than those in food stores. But there are always just a brand or two.

I once had some alcohol-free berry wine in a Greek restaurant in Helsinki -- by accident, if I recall correctly.
It was good. It was like berry juice without the sweetness, but also without the bite of alcohol.
As a wine substitute, it probably wasn't very good. As a berry drink, I thought it was really interesting.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

St. Pauli Girl

yup, I think that's the alcohol free brand. Not sure if it's sold in Finland.

Go here:
http://alko.fi/frontpage
Select "non alcoholic drinks" from the drop down menu.

I think there was Nikolai in the non-alcoholic beers. Or Buckler in a grey can. They're up there in the weird section (not beer section)

Our kids drink a non alcoholic cider which you can buy in City Market, I think it is very common here and quite acceptable taste if you like that sort of thing.
But in the UK NICE now seems to say that a glass of wine a day is OK for your wife after the first 3 months.

You do realise that the male can still drink heavily, even if the wife is pregnant. In fact it might help to manage with her violent mood swings!

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

Actually, I think the Finnish 'Nikolai' (available in two varieties) can be found in even rather small K or S supermarkets. Bit bigger ones can have couple imported brands too. Lidl has one of their own, which I personally find surprisingly drinkable.

What's the name of that "beer" which is a traditional drink (begins with a "P"....) comes in a glass bottle (probably 50cl) with a brown label? My MIL drinks it sometimes and we sometimes give it to the kids at Christmas. I'm pretty sure it is alcohol-free, but couldn't find it in the Alko product list. I know you can buy it in the supermarkets though.

Yes, that's the one. So, I guess it is a bit like Sima only stronger??? Or more like a very liquid form of mämmi
Not sure if it is any good for pregnant women though

I'm disappointed.
From the title, I thought this thread would be about where to get alcohol free.

It is
quite mild - but still it DOES have a small percentage of alcohol. Probably the same amount as sima? I'm not sure so you might wish to check the % from the bottle. There might be variations between brands (perhekalja, kotikalja and what have you).
