Hi there,
I was hoping to get some recommendations about schools or programs (in Finland) that offer courses to learn to speak finnish.
I am a Canadian who recently received my Finnish citizenship (both my parents are Finns). I have been around the language my whole life, but since my dad was learning english when we were growing up, my sisters & I never were made to speak finnish back to my parents. They spoke one language to us, we spoke another back. Unfortunate since I can't communicate much with the extended family that I do have in Finland. I've lost a lot of my understanding as I've grown older.
I'm hoping to come next fall or maybe late summer and would like to do a fairly intensive study.
Any insights appreciated!
Kiitos,
asta

oops...i realized that someone asked a similar question not too long ago. I'll go take a look at those replies. The only difference would be that I am now a finnish citizen, not a EU passport holder so staying in the country will not be a problem.

Labour Office offers a good language course in AMIEDU, Helsinki, but as far as I asked for it for my boyfriend, they said everything is full and there is a loooong queue... But you always can find something yourself. you can try ADULTA, Helsingin Aiskuislukio (though I don't suggest Helsingin Aikuisopisto, these are two different places). These ones I know from my own experience.. AMIEDU must be the best place, which is why this has a such long queue.
