Those little, lawn ruining buggers invaded my yard this week. Unsure as to how they should be dealt with and I've heard all sorts of strange things. Last night I stuck garlic cloves down the holes as suggested by a Finnish friend. Waiting to see if it has any effect They also suggested it's illegal to kill them. So "Caddyshack" style explosives are out.
Any tips as to how I can get them out of my yard? They don't have to go far, next door would be fine

Moles (of the garden variety)

Yes it is only legal here to keep foxes and other small creatures in boxes for their short lives and kill lost bears etc.
To my idea it is not illegal to kill them (yet). The problem only is to get them, I heard a pipe from your car exhaust to their hole might help. They are very 'green' you know, it has to be a high CO2 car

I have no experience with that, but I have heard the same thing, that a small windmill which makes a vibration or a noise drives moles away.
It will not kill the moles, it just scares them away, but wind is necessary to power the windmill.

Thanks folks. We have a cat. It's useless

And the wife won't have a windmill!
So I guess the hunt for ultrasonic pulse weapons has to start. Having said that there have been no new molehills in the 24 hours since I let them have it with the garlic cloves. Maybe they're just regrouping for another round...

...or having a spiffing garlic worm party
Hmm... can you think of any other vibrating things you could use & the wife might also approve of?

If you have a big tree near your yard you could try building and installing an owl box. Owls eat moles and mice.

We had moles something like 15 years ago. I got 3-4 of those from K-Rauta by Kehä III. The moles moved to the neighbour´s plot.

Excellent... will stop by HongKong & Krauta on the way home tonight.
Sammy, not sure the neighbours would appreciate my running around the yard brandishing a "rampant rabbit"

I could be on the next episode of "Poliisi"...

you do not need a "rampant rabbit", they have a special "royal mini mole"
They deleted my picture... so you have to google search on royal mini mole!
I get the mini and the mole, but what does royal have to do with it?

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

So.... those sonic mole repellent devices "may cause an initial increase in mole activity". No kidding

The little b@stards are digging like moles on amphetamines now!
Not sure I can wait the recommended 7 days, that petrol can is looking mighty tempting...
