Balcony glass

Post by irnbru » Mon Jan 25, 2010 1:14 pm

Trying to get a quote for getting my balcony glazed. Anyone know any decent Helsinki based companies? Or a rough idea of how much it will cost? Not exactly sure of the measurements yet I need to check that out.

Looks like it requires 8 - 9 pieces of glass. Here is a pic:

IIRC, it's something around 300€ a metre.

The House company will have a reccomended/approved supplier (maybe more than one, of you're lucky).

So, on the plus side, you won't need to go looking for a supplier.

Yeah looking into that. But are you saying you can't get it done by a non approved supplier?

Mmmm.

Well, the work has to be approved.

One colleague was looking at the same thing and was told "yes, you get it from this company"

I've experiemced a couple of different fittings. Lumon was good, all fitted well, smooth opening, etc. Joke wasn't as good, rough opening, crap tie back straps. Perhaps not beat to take the cheapest there is........

Looks like "Lumon" is our approved supplier. I've had them do a previous balcony and they did do a fairly good job I must admit. We paid approx €1900 then I think but it was about half as big :ohno:

See now you do not "own" your balcony. It is outside, so the facade "belongs" to the housing company you are occupying a flat in who have applied and gotten approved a council certificate. So as like you cannot paint your door black, you cannot have a satellite dish hanging from your balcony... you must have "approved" glazing. We don't live in some pigs-in-field country... ordnung müss sein!

€2550 got a 12% housing company discount. I feel only mildly violated.
