tulleen??

Post by tdmatsu » Tue Apr 27, 2010 11:38 am

Could anyone help with this sentence:

Pari tuntia myöhemmin tulleen uuden törmäysilmoituksen jälkee poliisi näki auton.

What is the basic form of tulleen? What is the grammatical name of the form? How is it used?
Another question, jäklee = jälkeen??

Tulleen is a either the genitive, or the -N accusative, which is identical to the genitive in its appearance. (Here, in your example, it is the -N accusative.) The corresponding nominative case is tullut.

It’s the active past participle, formed from the verb tulla. (In other words, it is a certain type of verbal adjective.) See the linked web page for examples on formation and usage.

You probably mean the word lkee (not klee) should actually be jälkeen? Yes, the letter “n” appears to be missing in the original article.

Kiitos Jukka!

tullut (nominative) -> tulleen (genitive/accusative) is the new thing I learned this time :)

The basic form of "tulleen" is "tulla". See what a morphological analyzer of Finnish says about "tulleen" ! :
