Are you feeling lonely taking care of children in Finland? Are you worried about your first pregnancy in Finland?

Sign me up! I'll be coming along with our 4 month old. Although actually I'm the Finnish half of our Welsh-Finnish family, hope you don't mind! But I've lived abroad for about 7 years myself so I can relate some of the stuff you're going through (though both of our children were born here in Finland). Also if anyone has any questions about the Finnish system I'd be happy to help if I can.

Since the start of this year I've been meeting up with some Finnish mums I met online at a Finnish baby forum, and we set up a Facebook group which has worked really well for us. It's a secret group so only invited members can see what's written there (it doesn't even show up on your profile) and because it's FB everyone is there under their real names, so it makes it feel more personal and safe. Within the group we have a variety of threads going on under the discussions tab (introductions, activities etc.) and all meet ups are posted under the events tab. FB events are great for arranging meetups, because you get an email notification about a new meet up, you can see who's going to attend, and you can discuss the meetup under the event in FB without filling up your inbox etc. Also, anyone can arrange a meetup (whether it be a coffee meet up, a walk in the park, shopping or anything) and invites get sent to all group members and whoever has time or fancies it attends. This could work well for us too!

I'm sad I can't make any meetings till october, but am so happy this is starting up! Have a great time and I'll bring my then 5 month old twins (and maybe my 2.5 year old wild, sweet boy) with me in October

It is a great idea! Myself I am expecting my baby in February 2011, and it would be so nice to talk with people who have gone that way already. So count me in!

Im afraid I'll have to see how I am on Wednesday morning now. Im struggling with day to say stuff at the moment and can't walk very far. I think its going to be to much for me with the bus and walking.

I had a problem free first pregnancy and I think this one is more than making up for it
