Looking for private/semi-private swim lessons for my toddler

Post by gigzernme » Sat Sep 04, 2010 1:01 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know if there are private swim lessons or semi-private swim lessons offered in Helsinki? I am looking for the type of swim class where the swim instructor actually takes my child in the water and teaches him how to swim while I observe from pool-side. My son has been in this type of lesson in the past and has done much better than the large group lessons with me in the water with him. So far, I have only been able to find (and try) the larger group lessons in Helsinki and my son is simply more interested in playing (rather than learning swim techniques.)

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think most people would go for private swimming lessons here, especially for a toddler. So I don't think there really is a market for that here. But, why not call the places that arrange swimming lessons for toddlers and ask if they would arrange private lessons for you?

For private classes you can try simsalabim.fi. They have good services though slightly expensive but the results will be amazing.
For public cetus.fi is very nice though the classes have begun. In both cases you are allowed to watch as your kid is being trained.

I recommend Cetus! My daughter takes their swimming classes (she started at 6, though), and I have been really impressed with them.

In private swim lessons, your progress is much quicker, the times are more flexible and the instruction is at your pace, so in practice, you will learn more in private swimming lessons than in group lessons and in shorter time frame.
