GIVEAWAY: Seed potatoes

Post by Hank W. » Thu Apr 15, 2004 10:58 pm

If someone has a 'palsta' or a summer cottage and is planning to plant, I have now several 'kappa' of seed potatoes for grabs.

By the looks of it: 2 kappa of early 'Timo' , 2 kappa of mid-summer 'Ostara', some 'Rosamunda' reds, 2 kappa of something that might be 'Siikli' and then a miscellaneous set of mixed brands. All in good shape FOB Helsinki, you need to show upand maybe take a few paper bags and/or boxes with you. I can drive you then to wherever for beer...

Cheers, Hank W.

Yes PLEASE :D

Some Timo would be great. I have never tried growing Rosamunda but they make great mash so I wouldn't mind some of those too.

BTW when are you planning to dig in yours? My MIL puts hers in end of April but she's in Pargas.

You can PM me if you still have some left and I'll try and collect this weekend....OK?
Cheers Hank.

Yep Hank, we could be up for some of those, our new place has a small garden so we will have half vegetable garden and half rockery, instead of growing grass, those seeds could come in quite handy. :P

Don't mind which type, preferrably the instant ones, have you got any mash seeds, saves me the effort of doing it myself!!

I am not an expert but Maippis uncle farms potatoes (near Karkkila) if I understand his muttering when I asked him..it roughly translates into..
"If ground is soft enough to dig it is soft enough for planting pottuja".(i.e all the ice is melted out of the soil)..then some added advice about late May frosts.."dont plant them too shallow or a late frost will nip off their tops!"
