GIVEAWAY: Free car...!

Post by dusty_bin » Thu Apr 22, 2004 10:37 pm

I have a car...

1985 Volvo 760 GLE. Leather Upholstery, electric seat, heated (of course), remote contol lacks, alarm, electric everything, automatic transmission. Body in really good condition for its age as is the underbody and running gear... Really!

It has not been driven for a year or so.

Last time it was standing for ages, it took a good charge of the battery and a pile of smoke and she ran well.

It has no block heater, because the guy at the Volvo garage said it did not need one... And he was right!

Oh, it does have air con and electric roof.

I honestly can not remember what it has in the way of in car entertainment. It has something in the dash and I always had something to play music on. I remember arriving in Helsinki and dashing up to Oulu, summer time... Texas on the radio... Summer Son... bloody magic. Expeditions to Hamenliina and Tampere, Pyha for skiing, trips to Vantaa joki for swimming...
Great trips and great days. A few more of those left in her I think!

It is British, never registered here.

Now, I am going to be saying 'goodbye Finland' on the 2nd of May. I am not taking the car with me. I don't need it.

If you want it PM me. It will either need to be taxed and imported, or to be turned into a pile of seats, electric motors, body bits and engine. I will give you the keys, documents, alarm remote control and if I am around and not packing and doing all the normal goodbye stuff, then I will happily help you get it away.

It is NO problem driving a British car over here, in any sense. Or, sell the bits and pay for a nice holiday...

I will be sad to see it go, but frankly, I can not be bothered to sort it out and drive it away. Here in Tallinn, I pay €2 for a taxi to town, or rent a car for €30 per day, if I don't just pay someone to drive me...

So, first come, first served, but remember that if you are going to drive it, you will have to pay the taxes.
It is a lovely thing though... Gold metallic paint, alloy wheels, black leather upholstery, runs (ran) sweet as a nut!

And it is free to the first to collect...

The car is at Ida Aalbergin tie. Just five minutes from you, well maybe ten if you are a slow driver.

Taxes, dunno.

24-28% of current market value, plus vat on the tax you pay, you may have problems registering it if it's RHD and a registration Katsastus is about 130?.

Sound nice though!

In that case it would be a cheap motor!

AFAIK there are no problems registering here. There are plenty of other RHD vehicles here. (even excluding those used by the post office)

Last time I saw a price on an LHD version, a couple of years ago, (mine is the GLE which is pretty rare here...) price was about €2000.

If I were staying, I would be sorting it myself, but it seems bloody hard to give a thing away here!

EEEk replying to myself...

I have decided teh car is going to Tallinn. The adminstrative issues that seemed at one point to be a pain in the butt, have resovled themselves and whilst I don't need the car, well, as nobody seemed to be interested, it goes with me...

Well, a few days after me actually!

It is HARD to give stuff away!

I hope you all never need something real! :D
