Moi!
I'm a 21 years old spanish guy. I will go on holiday in october to Finland, exactly to Helsinki where I know some people from there.
My main idea is havin some holidays there (like 10-15 days) but I'm open minded about staying some time in your land.
I've a very big problem, I don't speak finnish or swedish (I just started to learn finnish). So I don't know how much hard is find a job if you don't know (or speak just a bit) finnish that gives me enough money for pay for a room, and the other basic things (food and transport).
Anyways I speak spanish, english and some french so apply for a job in a hotel, non-public work, or tourist related work shouldn't be a problem (At least I think).
Need opinions from people than have been in the same situation than me or finnish people.
Kiitos!
Spanish thinking about moving to Helsinki
Re: Spanish thinking about moving to Helsinki
If you read a little bit of the other topics about looking for a job, you'll notice that it is very difficult to find a job without good knowledge of the language.
And October is not the time the tourist industry needs a lot of workers, so not a very realistic plan.

Que pasa loco ? Estas loco en pensar a venir a vivir aquí.
Me, I guess I few others who have been in here for while are thinking to move away. And you thinking to stay in here. If I could I would move today away from here. This place isn't a wonderland. The thing is at the begin when you don't speak Finnish everything it´s so beautiful , but than when you are can speak almost fluent , have a working life and pay those hight taxes and hear those people talking !"#¤% about foreigners , so you change completely.

Also I know perfectly how are the taxes and the prices (higher than spanish ones) but my idea is stay some months, not move permanently. (at least right now... Nobody knows).
If you can focus on your personal experience will be good for me.
Kiitos paljon

Hola! castellonense al habla!
I have been living in Finland for 1 year now. I moved because my boyfriend is Finnish and I can tell you it is REALLY difficult to get a job in here (At least in Tampere, where I live). The best would be if you could find a job before coming. I have a job now, after 6 months almost starving looking for one, but I don't work too many hours and the contract ends next month, so me and my boyfriend are having huge problems to pay the rent even now that I have work. Moreover, it is not easy to get any help from Kela if you are not married or have a kid with a Finnish person. So... it is up to you how much money you have to survive without getting a job or how much of an adventurer you feel!
Finland is a very nice place for me, but also winters are hard, not only because of the cold, you can also feel it in your mood.
If there is any help you need or any questions you have, just contact me!
