Hi,

Iwould need some help in making a gud cake for my son on his third Bday. Can any one help in providing tips on getting a great finish to the cake.
Iam looking for thick whipped cream for covering the cake.
Ihave been to market and the people have advised to buy kuohokerma or vispi kerma but there are liquidy...how do i getthe thick whipped cream form to cover a basic sponge cake and also to use the same in a piping bag to make a decorations over it.

Is there a different substance or Iam doing somethin wrong!PLEASE ADVISE
If i need to add a colourant to the whipped cream for a colourful piping then what is the substance name to buy in market (colourent in finnish)and how much is needed..
Also do i get Fondant icing ready to use in market and whats its name....
Is it easier and cheaper to use Fondant or Marzipaan in icing .covering the cake ??

Please give me your helpful tips asap

you do have to make your own whip cream here just use kuohokerma or vispi kerma, just use a blender!
Food coloring is called elintarvikeväri and is sometimes the Dr. Oetker brand, the color is the same as the label all in the decoration section in City market or Prisma or many small stores too, near the flour.
marzipan is there too but usually good colors are available at xmas so store up for next year!
wait untill you try and find cream of tartar,, you have to go to the pharmacy for a 50g white bag of Viinihappo (acid. tartar)then mix it with baking soda or powder...still dont know....

Viinihappo (tartaric acid) is available in all the big supermarkets. I buy it from Prisma.

It's actually easier to buy it here than in the UK, where it is no longer permitted to sell the stuff.

you can find ready covering icing in prisma. It is called "sokerimassa" it is wite and you add some color in it. It is actually quite easy to use. The brand is Dr. Oetker. Here's the picture: http://www.prismanpoiminnat.fi/index.php?id=4973 I have tried different rwady icing and this one is really the easiest to use, in my opinion.
for color, you can get them from Tiimari shop that have confetti produce. If you decide to go for the thick mini can of color, you only need a few drops to get a very strong color. It looks like this: http://www.confetti.fi/epages/Confetti. ... v%C3%A4rit

Good luck!
