Hei,
I moved to Tampere in June 2011 with my english husband and 2 children (girl 7, boy 4). We have made a few local finnish friends but I think my children really miss speaking English with their friends (rather than trying so hard with the few finnish words they know now).
If anyone is local (we are near Tesoma/Rahola and would like to meet please let me know.

English speaking families in Tampere
Re: English speaking families in Tampere
Sorry, haven´t met any other families with young, English speaking children in my 9 yrs here, well, a couple of families in deepest, darkest, rural, Kangasala, but we only meet about once a year, too busy!!! My kids have just gotten used to it. My eldest, born here, didn´t speak a word of Finnish till he started Eskari, & now he is more Finnish than English! But the funny thing is that many of my adult Finnish friends speak in English to my kids occasionally, that just confuses them. I let them watch suitable, English speaking channels on the Canal plus, and English language websites like Lego.com etc, but even with them only getting English from me for all their life, (sorry, how bad was that grammar
) they seemed to make themselves understood very well in our summer trip to UK. At home they swap languages all the time, while playing with each other, and the 2 schoolboys take it in turns reading bedtime stories to the 2 younger kids, in both languages! Sorry we are so far from you, but we could always meet in Tampere keskus one day if you like!

Hi, my daughter is 9 and we have recently moved to Ikuri (western Tampere). She goes to the 'English' school in Tampere.
