Ura insinöörinä Suomessa

Post by necator » Fri Mar 09, 2012 10:21 pm

Hei!
Olen 22-vuotias italialainen mies,tödennäköisesti jo ensi vuonna voisin valmistua diplomi-insinööriksi kemiantekniikan alassa (materiaalitekniikka on erityisalani). Tilanne on hankala Italiassa , insinööreillekin, niin Suomeen muuttaminen vaikuttaa mielenkiintoiselta vaihtoehdolta , kuinka helposti saa ulkomaalainen insinööri löytää ensimmäisen työn Suomesta? Onko mahdollista vai kannattaisiko työskentellä Italiassa muutamia vuosia ja sitten hakea töitä Suomesta kun työkokemusta on enemmän taskussa?

Holy crap your Finnish is good!

As for the work... foreign degree might be more "acceptable" with some work experience. Especially as you would be competing with locals that might have done internship and thus have more connections. But how much effort would it take to fill some application forms or send out cv and cover letter..?

Idea if you can do it - Erasmus exchange. Then you can make some contacts - maybe get your "foot in the door", do thesis work?

BTW agree on the  - thats some good Finnish.

Just this last week there were 20 or so jobs listed on MOL for Kemiantekniikan insinöörit ja teknikot. The only problem I see is that you won't always have your friend there to translate/interpret for you. :ohno:

Thank you for the replies, about internships the problem is that I have to find contacts by myself, I get no help from my university .. I will keep looking around and hopefully I may find some some of työharjoittelu.

Luckily, I've no friend translating/interpreting for me, I've studied Finnish for more or less 6 years.

It's basically the same with Finnish students and jobs. DI's or don't do internships as far as I understand (and as I understand the term internship).

Kudos to you!

Your first post was written in excellent Finnish. Not perfect, but I'd say better than 95% of people who have lived for 6 years in Finland.

Since the language presents no barrier, try this one. I don't suppose that getting a job in chemical engineering is any easier in Italy than in Finland. Qualified people are hard to come by anywhere you go. In Finland you may even have a slight advantage because of your diverse language skills.
