how long does it take to get a Residence permit ?
Hi Everybody..
I have joined . recently. I am working with a firm who has a branch in Finland and they have requested for an RP Application for me i.e. Form UV 101. I have some questions regarding the form ?
(1) How much time does it take to process for a Residence Permit form ?
(2) People have told that there has been a change in the policy of getting VISA for finland lately ? Has this change speeded up the process of gettting Permit ?
(3) I am from India, and working as a software consultant, So do I need to produce my certificates while applying for the RP.. Because the organization has not asked me to do that...
Please help me as I need to get to finland asap....
I would appreciate any help in this regards as I have searched the net failingly... Thanks in advance...
Always

You have seen the thread ..

This shows several examples.
Three to four weeks is very good...three to four months is not uncommon.
If your employer writes to support your application (please we need this person to start asap etc etc) together with a copy of a job contract you should get into the "three to four weeks" category.
But nothing is certain...one small problem..Finland/Public service offices many staff take their summer vacation in July..this could slow things a bit.

Well you could come here on a tourist visa..(valid for three months).
You dont need a residents permit to come here as "visitor".
You are not going to get a permanent residets permit anyway..only a temp permit.
The normal process is arrive with a valid visa in your passport. e.g Tourist or Student.
Take your self and a copy of a contract of employment and any supporting documents from your employer, to the immigration department, which is found adjacent/in the main police station where you are living. e.g there is one in Helsinki, one in Espoo and one in Vantaa.
(Have you got accomodation sorted?)
When you walk in there is a machine which gives you a number in the queue and the number will eventualy appear over a booth where you will meet the immigration officer. (usualy no more than half hour wait in the queue).
You fill in their forms, answer a few questions pay a nominal fee and then few weeks later they invite you to come collect your temp residents permit.

hi Sara,
The forms have been submitted in Helsinki. They were submitted on 28th June monday...
Secondly, If I come by a tourist visa... What is the possibility of working over there...
Please clarify.. and secondly when I have requested for a Residence Permit.. can I apply for another visa over there.... and how long will it take to clear that.
Is there any way if the organization tries to speed up the pr process ?
Regards

Be a tourist and enjoy the current "wonderfull" summer weather we are having.
..I think we have had about 2 hours without raining today...much like yesterday..and probably tomorrow...at least it makes the mosquitoes slower and less hungry...But when the sun eventualy come out.. .(forecast is not before next Monday)...boy are they going to be hungry!!!

Well, my friend told me it take about 6 months, even she have been staying here for more then 10 years.
They just only have to do is put the stamp of the premit in her new passport and it takes 6 months? But I heard from somebody who went there recently, it takes atleast 4 months, can up to 6 months....Can you believe it? Just to put the stamp in a new passport...it take so long.....?? They must be very busy...

4 weeks..? I hope so.....cause soon is my turn to send it to transferred to a new paasport.Dan wrote:That's weird. It took 4 weeks to get mine transferred. As for entering a country or even suggesting to enter a country without the correct paper work is just plain stupid. There's no guarantee that a permit will even be issued so it's ridiculous to make plans before you know.
I am stuck her now!

One final question please help.....
Hi
Sorry for the long delay !!!.. I had a quite a shock
and would like to share it with everyone.. The visa processing has not been started till this week due to some unavoidable situations... I think the processing has started today...
So what should be the procedure of approaching the authorities to get my processing done ?
It is getting delayed every while...
Can It be done in a faster process for RP application...
Thanks for all your support
--- waiting to come to Finland..

The only people who can move things along...faster are your Employers..they alone can ask that the "authorities" put some urgency into their work...dfordhiraj wrote:Hi

But I suspect that "unavoidable situations" = everyone is on summer vacation...including probably your employer and all of the relevant civil servants... appart from perhaps one person and her cat..

Believe it or not..Finland closes for July..
