Shared nanny?

Dear Finland Forum community,

We are relocating to Helsinki at the start of October 2012 and will have our daughter with us who will be 6 months old then. We're looking for childcare, Monday to Friday, 8-17. She is ineligible for municipal daycare below the age of 10 months and so we are exploring private options. Do people have advice? We are considering "family daycare centers" but wondered whether these also are primarily aimed at older children?

One possibility we thought would be to share a nanny. Would anyone be interested? We would be working in the Katajanokka area and are looking at housing in either Kammpi or Hakaniemi. Does anyone have experience here and advice on the cost of hiring a nanny?

Welcome to Helsinki! If you want to hire a private nanny, this site is widely used: http://www.hoitopaikka.net/v2/. You can also use it to look for other families to share care with you (though this forum is probably a good start too!). Follow the "Haetaan hoitajaa ja hoitokaveria" link, and place an ad by emailing hoitopaikka "at" hoitopaikka.net. The site is in Finnish, but I bet they can help you out if you need trouble.
