During my study times inside the (polytechnic) school you can get all kinds of info about student activities and parties all the time. Student parties were often on wednesdays with cheap drinks. Helsinki's nightlife is good...Espoo and Vantaa not so much but it depends can you find the right restaurants etc. I still miss those student times...you didn't see me studying much on thursdays

sometimes if there wasn't anything interesting going on we made things to happen and hopped to some cruise boats (Tallin or Stockholm).

Nightlife in Helsinki is basically middle-aged people singing karaoke, then stumbling onto a boat, to sing karaoke, pick up cheap alcohol in Estonia (always the same disgusting "long drink"), then go back on the boat to Helsinki to sing karaoke. It's fun though, if you kick ass at certain English karaoke songs, like I do, they will be amazed and buy you free drinks (because the average Finn in general is absolutely useless at karaoke, even though they love it). Even the barman sometimes will just tell you you don't need to pay. Generous people when drunk.
