Quick question on gifts...

Post by harmaa » Mon Dec 06, 2004 10:25 pm

When you give a gift to someone, how do you write "for:name" on the package? I seem to remember it's something like Mikalle (for Mika), is that correct? Does it change depending on the name (ending in a vowel and such)?

Sorry for such a stupid question - my Finnish is so rusty and was never very good to begin with. :/

First of all, Santa's little helpers write the names. Judging by the handwriting they tend to be high on something, but hey there are elves and peak through little girls windows so what can you expect.

Second, they often just write Tero, Jaana, Robert and not Terolle, Jaanalle, Robertille. I mean, if you had billions of gifts to label you'd keep it short too. Kids who can't figure out that their name on it means it is for them don't need toys anyway.

Third, in case of confusion or with Jaana taking Tero's truck and smacking Robert in the head with it, parental intervention is adviced.
