Hi
I have 2 questions regarding electricity in Espoo
1. How much is the common cost for electricity for a 2-room+kitchen apartment for 2 people in Espoo (I know there can't be a definite number, and I only like to have a better understanding over this issue)
2. Can someone recommend or compare electricity companies in Espoo, and how is the routine for having electricity? How many days/hours it takes for the apartment to get connected to the electricity from the company? And can we make the contract before going to the apartment in order to benefit from the electricity from our first day?
Thank you so much
Electricity in Espoo (cost+companies)
Re: Electricity in Espoo (cost+companies)
A ballpark estimate: maybe 400€ annually. Could be somewhat less and of course lot more, depending how many and what kind of appliances you use.
About half of the total comes from distribution costs ("rent" of the local powerlines) and electricity tax. You can not change how much and to whom (Fortum in Espoo) you pay those for a given location. For the rest it is then a matter of opinion is there much point to hunt very hard for the cheapest price for an apartment. A house which can easily have an electricity bill for thousands of euros is a different thing.
At least some of the power companies allow you to make contract online (might require you know Finnish), or then you can call them. You should be able to do it in advance.
Couple of big companies:

http://helen.fi/index_eng.html (has a calculator both for consumption and price. Price does not include the transfer and tax part)

Re: Electricity in Espoo (cost+companies)
hello!
I don't think it goes more than 40€/month if you are only 2 persons and knows to turn of laptop/tv when not in use.
I would say fortum or helen and you can check online or even hourly about your consumption and so.
Hope u get wht I mean.
