If you or anyone you know would like to stop paying the church every year some of your hard earned money, you can opt-out through this website
http://www.eroakirkosta.fi. Almost 380 000 have used the website to sign out of church since 2003. It's very easy to use, as simple as sending an email. If you're interested in how much you can save every year, click on Verolaskuri.
More information about the web site here:

Cheers and you're welcome

Don't you only pay it if you are a Lutheran who belongs to the church?
I am Catholic and am registered as being on the 'population registrar'. Not belonging to any church. So I have never paid it.

I'd think those foreigners that have joined have done it so for reason they consider more important than the money.
(and the others don't need to worry about that tax)

I'm simply raising awareness of this site. Non-believers are getting more numerous and if they haven't heard of this site already, I'm sure they'll appreciate it. I realize that most people here aren't from Finland and have probably not been baptised into the church from childhood. But for those who have been member of the church since childhood (not their choice) and are now un-believers or simply don't feel church as an important part of life, they don't have to pay tax towards it.
People who make just under 2000 euroa per month can save between 200 and 400 euros each year, bepending on where they live. I'm sure some of you could find a better way to spend the money.

One zero missing there (not denying the amount can be considered substantial).

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others as part of paying tax to church, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
The church deserve to be encouraged and be supported, the welfare systems that form part of our economic system today all emanated from the church. They are not pressured to give a certain amount of money to a church or other ministry, it is a generous offering and should be encouraged.

The thing is, we don't think you need the church to do good or be a good person. We don't believe in silly things like heaven and hell. And of course you don't need faith or a belief in a deity to be good. This is ever so evident in this day and age.
Many thousands every year are waking up and have been resigning from the church.

If you want to opt out from church tax or church do it personally , you do not require every one to go the same road.

Little amount to pay, much smaller than the amount of money the Ray and slot machines extract from peoples wallet on a daily basis. The church still spread there handouts to thousands of people without food and in needs on a daily basis .

This person clearly has their own opinion which will not be swayed. An anti-evangelical if you will.

It is fine to inform about this, even if as pointed this isn't at all your target audience, however I do not find this acceptable:

I defend your right to express your opinions about religion, even if that offends people. But you ought to do it on your own space, not come here and start preaching. Please have a bit more of respect for this forum and invite whoever wants to listen to your own website.
