In that case it most likely will never be granted. if you break up after it has been granted, then it may be canceled (I do not know how likely this is in practice). If it is not cancelled, you'd still need another ground for it when it is time to renew it one year later.

yes, it will be cancelled, and you may need to visit police station to inform about the divorce. Failing to do so may result some raised eyebrows and pissed off cops. And no, you can't hide from them for long. They know where you are.
You need another ground to continue your stay/residence in Finland. If you have work then you should apply for work permit..

You are still married. After the cool down period you are not. If you applied for a residence permit on grounds of marriage... do you think you could keep the RP? If you get the RP before the divorce is finalized, you could get a job and apply for a new permit for that.

Rip is right, if you get your permit before you get divorced, then you can stay in Finland until the permit expires. One year. Then you have to find another Finnish to marry. You should go to the police and tell them that you are still married and that you are trying to work things out. You might get lucky and have your permit anyway

find another Finnish to marry.
But if I don't have another finish to marry, can I get the "P"permit with the work permit?

Its called a " Residence permit for employed persons"
But is finding a job easier to get than finding a Fin to marry.
Atleast with a job , your salary is all yours.

Yes, lets all help the guy out by using a Finnish woman to marry and get another residence's permit LOL.

Anyway, you get divorced and straight away marry again.... Ain't gonna look good to immigration.

You get divorced and straight away apply for a student's permit to be here... Again, ain't going to look too good to immigration.

Still remember a finnish woman with about 4 children from three foreigners who got permit because of marriage with her. She only then understood they might not have married her out of love. Became instantly member of Mensa here in Finland and nominated for smartest person. Nice to know where the tax money is going.
