I am doing a research on restaurant pricing and offers in Helsinki.
What would you say is missing? Is the food overpriced, or is it just normal price compared to the standard of life here?
How often do you go out to eat?
While working, what is your most common lunch, or brunch? What are your favorites?
Would you say that the offers in this area need a little imagination and something new and fresh?
Restaurants in Helsinki
Re: Restaurants in Helsinki
I think the lunchtime buffets are reasonably good value for money. For around 9€ you can get an all-you-can-eat buffet and some of the Asian restaurants have a really good choice including sushi and a range of chinese dishes. The Nepalese buffets are good too.
We rarely eat out in the evening though. It's so expensive and for the same amount of money I can make a great meal at home. And as I quite enjoy cooking, it's not a problem. A posh meal (eg 50-100€/pp) is a luxury and also a big risk. That's a huge amount of money to spend if the meal is only so-so. Am rarely blown away by restaurant food in Helsinki anyway.
There is a reasonably good choice in Helsinki (if you look hard enough) but the choice in Espoo (where I live) is dire.
What's missing? Some decent gastro-pub type food. Classic dishes (not fancy food) at a good price in a relaxed atmosphere. Amazingly, some of the best pubs don't serve food, and the ones that do tend to have very boring menus.
