Question about employer task in Finland

Post by Youppia » Thu Mar 27, 2014 3:55 pm

Hi everybody,

I am from France and I have a question about the taxation system here.

Imagine if my annual gross salary is 24 000 euros, then I have to pay 14,5% of taxes (this is not my salary, it's just an example  ).
The question is --> Does my employer have to pay some taxes to the government on this salary. I mean, does the company have give away more than these 24 000 euros per year to pay taxes because it is for an employee ?

I went to the taxes office in the girl told me that all of the taxes (my personnal taxes and the employer taxes) are in these 14,5%. It seems very strange for me: in France your employer has to pay taxes so it is actually giving away more money than my gross salary. In France, the employer would have to give away something like 29 000 euros.

Thanks for your help!

Nononono! I'd say what employer pays is closer to 30 than 24k.

Answer given by the tax office was technically correct but to you misleading. Those other payments just aren't called "taxes". Employer pension contribution is the largest of the items.

Yes for paying 2000 gross, the employer has to have 2500, and the employee gets 1800 or so. So really its not the taxes, but "other stuff".

I think it is at least 3000 to 3500 for the employer with all the other stuff, TEL(holiday) etc.
