Either the embassy knows better than I do, or they don't.
The average processing time is 106 days, according to migri. Average.

Right now they are crazily attacking all the urgent student applications, which will probably delay the others a little bit. I'm waiting on a citizenship application, which was a waiting time of 5 months when I applied, but they are currently processing 7-month-old applications, so it seems they are a little bit busier than normal. Since they have only had your application 8 days I would not hold my breath... your application (and mine) are not what they consider urgent. We just have to wait.
It is very difficult to guess the processing time ?I know many people got decisions faster, for instance, about citizenship this year 2014 in 4 months (you can check forum posts, many claims to get decision in 3 months and half even). I know also some others got decisions about spouse permit in two or three months!! On the other hand, the officials who are dealing with student permit processing might not be the same who are dealing with family permit or citizenship..
I was wondering, why Migri doesn't allocate enough resources? the processing fees already quite high. ?? There are enough applicants to hire more staff. The waiting time can be frustrating, too long to be bearable..

As long as the application where speed does matter (specialists, students) can be handled within 2 weeks there is of course no real problem.

If Migri would hire additional staff, they should of course send that staff to Somalia - there are over 900 residence permits based on family ties for Somalis pending, and these poor fellows often have to wait over 3 years for a decision.

So, migri should spend more taxpayer money on services for non-Finns? Why should they? What's in it for them? 8)
So, the whole idea of Migri is just a waste of tax-payer money for the sake of non-Finn!!! in that sense then, should Migri allocate the minimum resources, any attempt to reduce the processing time would be useless, and just wasting of tax-payer hard earning money!!. Why the state should spend money on foreigners!!!

Despite all of that, I think that the fees ranging in general from 100 to 540 euros, and 10s of thousand applications would be enough for self-funded institution.

Exactly its not our area of expertise to comment nd decide what to do.
eventually decision will come and in the mean time everybody has their situation and dealing with waiting period.
shouldn't post this type of racist comment.
