Upcoming Finnish Language courses in Helsinki?

Post by simakun » Fri Mar 18, 2005 12:48 pm

Does anyone know of a level 1 Finnish Language course that's starting anywhere in Helsinki in April or May that meets the Työvoimatoimisto requirements for KELA aid? Thanks for any info provided!

Hi,
I just found out today that the next Finnish course offered by the city starts on May 2 2005. It's a six months course if I'm not mistaken. Go to the Employment office and register now! I hear the waiting line is long and selection is tight.

That's really funny because I was just there at the Itäkeskus Työvoimatoimisto and I was told the next Finnish course starts on May 2.
They even offered me an application form to fill in.

As far as I understood there were two levels offered. Basic and Intermediate. Could it be that the courses are offered based on which area we are from?

The courses will be held at Adulta Oy. I suspect though perhaps the deadline for applications are over? I was told there were 94 applicants and they only had places for 20 something! The course is really intensive though - six hours daily for six months.

Good luck! If I hear of any other courses available I'll be in touch!

Simakun,
Just realised I had this info.

Application deadline: 18.04.2005
(oh dear, that's just two days ago! I wonder if you could still rush in a late application? TRY!)

Anyways, here's the other info which might be useful for you if you intend to pursue this course.

Kouluksen ilm.nro - 574963
(I presume this is the course reference number)

Venue: Adulta Oy (09) 271901
Kaikukatu 3
00530 Helsinki
http://www.adulta.fi

Yhteystiedot; Kristel Kivisik-Sööt

Have you tried the university or lessons given by some other organisations?
