Postpositions

I'm learning for my finish language examination, and I have some postpositions which I didn't found in my dictionary even in online dictionary.
I have example sentences for each, so could anybody translate it? I think it is easiest way to understand it. Thanks a lot.

1) ansiosta
Sinun ansiostasi olen nyt täällä.
Rikkautensa ansiosta hän voi matkustaa paljon.

2) eduksi
Se tehdään yhetiskunnan eduksi. Olen tehnyt sen sinun eduksesi.

3) juokossa, juokosta, juokkoon
Tyttö meni lasten juokkoon, on lasten juokossa, tuli lasten juokosta.

4) kohdalla, kohdalta, kohdalle
Minun kodaltani asia on selvä. Pysäytä auto sairaalan kohdalle.

5) mielestä
Minun mielestäni hän on laiska. Isän mielestä tämä ei ole totta.

6) osalta
Tämän asian osalta olen eri mieltä. Tutkimuksen osalta tehtävä on valmis.

7) pariin, parissa
perheen parissa

8 ) perusteella
kokemuksen perusteella, tutkimuksen perusteella, kirjeenne perusteella

9) sijaan, sijalla, sijalle
Sen sijaan, että menisit kotiin, istut kapakassa.
(This sentence I undertand, but can anybody write examples in finnish and translate it for "sijalla", "sijalle"?

10) alkaen
eilisestä alkaen, ensi viikosta alkaen

11) lukuunottamatta
In my papers is: "lukuunottamatta"
in my dictionary is: "lukuun ottamatta"
Which is wrong?

1 - ansiosta = because of
Sinun ansiostasi olen nyt täällä. = Because of you I am now here.
Rikkautensa ansiosta hän voi matkustaa paljon. = Because of his wealth/Because he is rich he is able to travel a lot.

2 - eduksi = in one's favour
Se tehdään yhteiskunnan eduksi. = It is done in favour of the society.
Olen tehnyt sen sinun eduksesi. = I have done it in favour of you.*1

3 - juokossa, juokosta, juokkoon = among, amongst
Tyttö meni lasten juokkoon, on lasten juokossa, tuli lasten juokosta. = The girl went among the children, is amongst the children, came amongst the children.

4 - kohdalla = beside sth, next to sth, by sth
Minun kohdaltani asia on selvä. = As far as I'm concerned the case is clear.*2
Pysäytä auto sairaalan kohdalle. = Stop the car by the hospital

5 - mielestä = in one's opinion
Minun mielestäni hän on laiska. = In my opinion he is lazy.
Isän mielestä tämä ei ole totta. = Father thinks that this is not true.

6 - osalta = for one's part
Tämän asian osalta olen eri mieltä. = As far as this case is concerned, I disagree.
Tutkimuksen osalta tehtävä on valmis. = As far as the research is concerned, the task is completed.

7 - parissa = with
perheen parissa = with the family
viettää aikaa perheensä parissa = spend time with one's family

8 - perusteella = based on
kokemuksen perusteella, tutkimuksen perusteella, kirjeenne perusteella = based on experience, based on research, based on your letter

9 - I can't find any usage for sijalla. Sijalle could be used in this context:
Asettaa ensi sijalle = place first, prioritize

10 - alkaen = starting from
eilisestä alkaen, ensi viikosta alkaen = starting from yesterday, starting from next week

11 - lukuun ottamatta(I think this one is correct, but I'm not sure) = except for sth

*1 Actually I find this sentence silly and hence the translation is quite silly too.
*2 Minun kohdallani, sinun -si, hänen -an means "As far as X am/are/is concerned"

Kohdalla and eduksi are pretty useless postpositions in my opinion. They are mostly used in formal jibberish and they can be used to create euphemisms.

Whew! The title of this thread gave me a scare until I realized it was in the kielikoulu section.

1) "Ansiosta" is almost always positive, so probably the closest English equivalent would be "thanks to". ("Takia" would be the more negative Finnish word.)
Sinun ansiostasi selvisimme. = Thanks to you, we made it.
Sinun takiasi jouduimme vaikeuksiin. = We got into trouble because of you.

2) Just to clarify the meaning - the synonym would be "for [someone's] benefit".

3) The spelling is actually "joukossa" etc. (not "juokossa").

9) "Sijasta" (instead of) is by far the most common of these three. Maybe it's my poor imagination, but I can't really think of any examples with "sijalla" or "sijalle". Not to be confused with the meaning "position" and its inflections ("hän on kolmannella sijalla").

11) Yes, it's "except for sth" or "excluding sth". "Nykysuomen sanakirja" (1988 edition) accepts both spellings, one or two words.
