English language school for move January 2018
Hello, I apologize I have searched the site and there is so much great information but the last related posts are a few years old so I'm inquiring to see if there have been changes. I am moving to Helsinki for temporary assignment (6 months) with my 7 and 9 year old children and am looking for english language schools. I contacted Ressu school, which does not accept mid-year transfers. We are looking at International School of Helsinki but it is so expensive, with tuition, registration fee and non-residency fee, for only 6 month period. And of course I would like my children to experience the acclaimed Finnish education system. Can anyone help point me to resources of english language schools in Helsinki?

You are in a difficult position - I can't imagine many schools welcoming your children for just six months. If I remember correctly, without an official ID/residency, the school will not get funding for your children's studies.
You didn't say if your children speak English fluently or not. If they have neither fluent Finnish nor English, many state schools will just point you towards the Integration Program. But, you will not qualify for that because you are only here temporarily.
http://www.eschool.edu.hel.fi/ The English School might usually requires Finnish language skills but if you explain it is only for 6 mths, maybe not. There is a fee but not as much as ISH
http://esh.fi/index.php/en/ The European School also charges a fee. English, or French or Finnish programme in primary.
https://www.hel.fi/peruskoulut/fi/koulu ... n-english/ ...and also Maunula primary school.
