Cohabiting with spouse

Post by sijazme » Tue Jul 16, 2019 3:33 pm

The marriage based resident permit application asks whether the two married partners live together in one home like a family unit and any previous history of living like a family. I have never lived in one household with my wife and only recently moved in together because I had a job in a different country and now moving to Finland to live with her. So do we need to somehow satisfy the authorities about the cohabiting clause in the application form and make declarations as to how long we have been living together as a family and why previously this was not the case?

Clarification of income section says that if your spouse is a Nordic citizen then means of support is not necessary. However, later in the application it does ask to provide for payslips of the EU spouse. So should I skip that section because the spouse is a Nordic citizen?

The resident permit application says:

"The required attachments are mentioned under 'Income' in the application. If you think that you should not be required to have secure means of support, attach a document where you state your reasons for this. The maximum size for one file is 4 megabytes."

Also I need to state on what grounds and for what period of time my EU spouse has been issued with a Finnish residence permit. My spouse is Icelandic and has residence rights in the EU and therefore does not require a resident permit. So what should I put an answer for this question?

:)

I opened up the EnterFinland website and attempted to create a new user account and it is asking for an "e-identification" using a Finnish Bank account. I don't have a Finnish bank account because I have just arrived in Finland to live with my EU spouse. How can I create an EnterFinland user account and apply for a resident permit?
With the "create account" button...

You are reading wrong application, if your wife is EU citizen, you need to apply for EU family member residence card.

Btw, if you are not confident in using enterfinland use paper application as all communication with Migri is done via this service.

Also don't mix the two terms: marriage and cohabitating partners. These are different grounds for applying for residence permits. If you are married you don't need to live together certain time. If you are cohabitating and not married you need to live together 2 years or have a common child.
