Legal status during application processing

I intend to submit a family based residence permit application from within Finland.
I have a Poland schengen resident permit which allows me entry into Finland.
The Poland permit will likely expire before a resident permit decision is made in Finland.
Am I still considered legal during this time in Finland as the permit is being processed?

Yes. You are legally allowed to stay until a decision is made.

As soon as I complete and send the online EnterFinland resident permit application?

Once you have your appointment at migri to submit your fingerprints. Then you will get a paper that allows you to stay u til a decision is made.

I have an appointment at the migri at the mariehamn service station on 29 August 2019.

Is that when I will give the fingerprints?
