Looking for cheap baby stuff!
Hubby is based in Ireland but is currently working in the Falkland Islands and won't be back until the month after baby's due date! So not an option I'm afraid.
I have 4 mile walk to the nearest bus stop to get into Oulu, it makes for a very long day trip and I would probably end up killing my son, not too mention trying to carry all the bags!
I looked into getting a taxi but it costs 83 euros one way! Ouch!
Getting a taxi to and from the bus stop is also not an option as the nearest taxi company is based quite a long way off that they end up whacking surcharges on! So assuming that my son and I got got a taxi to the bus stop, a return bus ticket to Oulu and a taxi from the bus home, It would cost me over 100 euros! Just can't afford that before I have even started buying baby stuff!
Now you can see why I am appealing to all you good old, big hearted souls out there!

The time has come, the walrus said to talk of many things....
graham, I just came back from the town. There were prams on sale in both of the kirpputoris that I visited (the one close to the cathedral and the one in the Formula carting center). Most of the prams looked quite battered, though. There were also some clothes available but not too many or too good at the moment.
It might be a better idea to do what Neil suggested - to post a message at the second hand stores and at kindergartens. Actually, I could do this for you if you send me a file with all the stuff you need & telephone, etc. Maybe you could ask for a photo to be emailed so that you could choose only the things you would like to have?
The university has a mailing list for families with children: http://lists.oulu.fi/mailman/listinfo/lapsiperhelista. You could also post a message there, there might also be someone who lives closer to you. Unfortunately, I cannot help with transporting as I don't have a car.
Btw, have you thought of posting a message in your local store? I am sure someone in the forum can help with translating.

I have been having some sucess on these forums so will hold off for now on posting at the uni etc, but when it becomes desperate listen out for my cries of help!!!!!!

If anyone has any baby stuff for sale then I am really interested!
Primarily I am after nursery furniture like a changing table, baby bath, newborn clothes, pushchair/stroller, pram, cot bedding, pram bedding, washable nappies and anything else that might be up for sale!
If you fancy making a few bucks, well euros really whilst clearing some space in your home and doing me a huge favour then get in touch.
I live just outside of Oulu, transportation can be a problem but I might be able to get round that one but any offers of help will be greatly rewarded!
