Somebody suggested it to me to tell about KVT (Kansainvälinen vapaaehtoistyö ry) in this forum and i thought why not. KVT is the Finnish branch of Service Civil International, an organization focused on arranging work camps and other international exchange. The main office is in Rauhanasema in Helsinki.
In Turku we have a local group of about 5-15 people, mostly students and others interested in travelling and mixing with people from other cultures. Age range is from 17 to 35. We meet appr. once a month, quite often just for fun though we try to stay active with volunteer work such as helping out or organising activities for asylum seekers in Turku. As the city is not huge, it's also important to maintain links with other grass-roots organisations in Turku. At the moment we're all Finnish and of course people from other countries living in Turku would be very welcome to join in!
Anyone who reads this and would like to come and see what the whole thing is about, you can email me at fiia90@yahoo.es.
More info about KVT also on http://www.kvtfinland.org (though mostly in Finnish)
