car import tax
Hi sharky.
How long are you gonna stay in Finland? This really affects whether it is worth importing it. If you know you are only gonna be here 6 or 12 months, keep it on British plates.
I would not bother to import a RHD car at all to be honest. You can never sell it (or at least, with great difficulty - you probably have to take it back to the UK), and will cost an arm and a leg to import. Oh, and if you intend to drive it in the winter here, you need winter tyres which probably cost you 1500 euro for 17" rims and tyres (new and good quality).
I presume you are talking about the MKIV Supra (see my pic on the left - LOL). There are hardly any of these cars in Finland. I know of maybe 3 personally; that is about all of them! Import price for the twin turbo model will vary between 5000 and 15000 euro, depending on the mood of the customs (tulli). Since its a special model and not on their books, they will pluck a figure out of the air or compare it to some supercar like a BMW M5 and quote you the tax from that.

Its relly a decision between "are you dumb" or "are you rich" or then very many links to bus time tables. Yes, you'll have a car "cheap" but then the "real fun" starts...
Apart from getting a RHD into plates in principle... Resale value - Imagine a car in the UK with the steering wheel in the passenger seat !?

What the tax is depends on the pahses of the moon. Assessed by the famous stetson-method (pulled from the hat) the tax depends on the value of a similar car in Finland. You can go to the Tulli pages with the pdf statistics of cars brought in + taxes levied that will give you the ballpark approximate. The links and a translation of the sheet are in the "configure your car" topic.
