residents permit-Who needs them?

HI there, just wondering if its compulsory to have a residents permit to live and work in Finland?

Im planning on moving there this year and was wondering how long (if i need one) i can be there before requiring a permit?

Im a British Citizen, would be most grateful with some help thanks!! :?
