Finland Blog

Post by HT » Thu Jan 26, 2006 11:11 pm

There aren't all too many blogs about Finland, so I decided to start one. It is mainly directed to foreigners wishing to learn more and Finns who have forgotten some very important basic facts about their home country:

What about Finland?

If you have ever met a Finn, you probably can guess it is both appraising and critical of Finland - and I hope not disproportionately nor at the wrong places. have I given the right picture of Finland so far, in your opinion? Please do visit and comment!

You never seen http://www.finlandforthought.net ? You've missed one whiney libertarian bitchslap there. At times it can be entertaining.

edit: Sorry - I am just having rabid paranoia about everyone teaming up in 2006 just to diss Finland. Well, maybe we deserve it.

Thanks for the link. =) I checked the blog and it looks good. I will read it. You had a very good idea. I had thought about doing something like that, but from the point of view of a foreigner, I commented that to a couple of friends and it seemed to be a good idea. Nevertheless, I'm still procrastinating and didn't do anything yet =( .. May be you and your blog can be the inspiration I need to do it. What do you think?

IMHO, compaired to blogs like that, there's a lot more equal feedback, filtering and critical discussion here which leads to a lot higher standard of processing various subjects. Also a great deal of valuable information on FF. + jokes.

Well I don't go to the pub for an off chance of meeting up with some bored housewives; you need to go to bingo for that.

Great pub good beer and a game of darts while you steel yourself, never been there myself (liar)

I've seen a weird random mating ritual happen among strangers here at last call in several bars on Saturday nights. You just have to be a male, and be semi conscious and standing to get propositioned. Pretty sure they're young drunk students, not housewives.

Anyway. I've been doing my own blog and photojournals of Finland for my friends back home. (and it's not critical of Finland, in fact, part of my mission is to undo the damage Conan did by making Finland look like Siberia, even though he did it for comic relief) If you ever care to compare notes, let me know. I could use some more cultural insight, and it sound like you could use some positive Finland view reinforcement.
