Suomi-Ruotsi, too exciting to watch?

Post by yamoussoukro » Sun Feb 26, 2006 1:52 am

I'm really happy that our hockey-team has done such a good work. I also hate the fact that we play against Sweden in the final. Although it will feel better winning gold, while beating the Swedes at the same time. (kaksi kärpästä yhdellä iskulla) It's just always such a thriller, I don't know if I can watch the whole game. There's so much psychological !"#¤% going on, that maybe goes back 1000 years who knows.

As most Finns think all that matters is that "as long as Sweden does not win either". Now that means we have to win gold. And we will. 4-1

hello.....i am a neutral county supporter...not sweden or finland....!!

but you see logic says sweeden won over czek 7-4, fin won over russia 4-0,

czek won 3-0, so in theory the czek were a tougher opponent and still the sweedish licked them...mmmm will finns overcome them....?

i think it might just go to the sweedish....3-1, but let us see........!!

Your logic is delightful, but tends to ignore that the Russians DESTROYED the Swedes 5-0. And that was when the Swedes were trying.

The less said about the Swedes' shameful defeat to Slovakia the better. Although it tends to further erode your argument... Sweden 0 Slovakia 3 , Czech 3 Slovakia 1 Sweden 7 Czech 3. Make sense of that "logic", please.

The result will hinge on the first period. If the Finns go two down, it's probably all over. But if they score and get ahead, this time I cannot see them being so naive or so filled with inferiority complex as to throw it away.

But we'll see. It'll be fought out in the head as much as on the ice.

Rolled out of bed at 5 a.m. to watch this. My guess is 3-1 Finland. They both can trap and break the trap, but Swedes have more depth in scoring. So "logic" tells me that Swedes have the edge, since it's certain both teams will give it their all, but I still have hopes for results to come from the determination of the Finns.

Now it is 2-2 and I am off for a walk. I have high blood pressure even without this.

Don't leave again. Your leaving appears to be bad luck. Behind 3-2 now. :(

hi....i was using logic only for the games that mattered that was from the quarter finals.....when the time came for the push...it is then that the real play beginns........!! yeah....i think it is also more in the mind......they should hypnotise the finnish players....every time they send them to play against the sweedish team......i blame the atmosphere that puts more pressure on the players...if they are playing sweedish.......!!

well............sooner the law of averages will catch up with the sweedish team....but i hope in this decade!

I was absolutely heartbroken as I watched the Finns succumb to the Swedes. What the flip happened there? It's like they couldn't break the net toward the end of the game. You can't say those guys didn't give it everything they had, though. Great game.

Teemu just looked like someone ran over his puppy. I thought, "Dude, you just took the silver and you crushed the U.S. (not that I was happy about that one, mind you). Smile for gosh sakes. Maybe he figured he lost three teeth in that tournament for nothing. By the way, Darien Hatcher is a butt-head and

I guess I would have to look at this from the standpoint of Canada and the U.S. It makes me sick to my stomach anytime we face them and they beat us. They get up on their high horses and rub it in our faces, which doesn't sit well with American pride, you know. It's not like we can't beat Canada. We have beaten them before, which was absolutely the next best thing to the 1980 Miracle on Ice game. I have to assume that's how the Finns must feel after Sunday's game. It bites, what can I say?

Hank:

Yes, I think I do understand the Finns. I would liken it to what would have happened had the U.S. lost to the Russians in the 1980 games. When the U.S. one, people lost their flipping minds! I remember my whole family jumping up and down and screaming so loudly, you would have thought the world was coming to an end. It was the greatest feeling in the world.

My mother is from Bremerhaven, Germany. She hates it when the Germans lose to Austria in anything. I guess any neighboring country has that going. Kind of like the U.S. and Canada in hockey. There was only one thing I cared about after the U.S. was knocked out of contention in these winter games was that Canada would be knocked out, too. Guess what, I must have been a good girl this year, 'cause Santa brought my gift early! :D

We're having a collection here in Finland for old glasses to supply them to the Canadian hockey referees in the next games

What part of Finland are you in? Do you play hockey? Are you native to Finland or are you a transplant?

I'm a St. Louis, Missouri native transplanted to Phoenix, Arizona. I know that doesn't sound correct, but St. Louis and Phoenix are like night and day.

Hockey in the desert. Hmmm, there's a concept!
