Saw the game (darn it anyway!) this morning on USA TV and the post game interviews.
Teemu Selanne was obviously very disappointed and also very gracious toward the Swedish victors. He said the Finns played a strong game and today the Swedes were a little better. Teemu's one-line game summary was that the Swedes controlled the puck a lot of the time, and the Finns burned up too much energy chasing after them to try gain puck control.
The Swedish goalie spent his entire interview talking about himself.
Peter Forsberg got on and said something like "after what happened in Salt Lake City and the last four years, everyone thought it was now our turn..." HUH? WHAT the F**K??

Selanne gracious while Swedes talk about themselves

Yap, Teemu is The Man. After that devastating loss, if Saku and Teemu are arriving to the market squere tonight, I'll be there my Oilers jersey on.

Please extend my best wishes to them!
What is the Oilers connection?
Saku = Canadiens
Teemu = Ducks
(plus a bunch of other NHL connections)
and don't forget my personal favorite, Saku's brother Mikko = MN Wild

perhaps the Oilers reference was in respect to Jari Kuri? Or maybe it was his way of saying there is no chance of it happening (and he doesn't have an Oilers jersey...)

Oilers were the team of the late 80's, with Kurri-Crezky-Tikkanen line, and while I lived in Calgary in 90-91 (Flames are the archy rival of Oilers), my Canadian girldfriend bought that jersey to me as a x-mas present (because I was a fan).
(I'm not a kid, you know.)
Allmost everybody gets that (fan of the late 80's) right away. I suppose.

Certainly I remember the great Oilers teams. I'm not a kid either!

I started watching NHL hockey when there were only the original six teams in the league, and I was a teen in Minnesota when the NHL expanded to include the North Stars in 1968. I just wasn't sure about whether or not there was a direct connection between the Oilers and the returning Olympic Finns, that's all.
